I definitely belong on this section of the board!! I’ll be 50 in June and my workouts, recovering, accidents and surgeries have all been down hill .
I’m having to go lighter! Slower and accept changes that are hard to accept.

I just turned 53 so I feel your pain. Now I’m just trying to keep Father Time at bay.

I feel better since I quit trying to to lift heavy. But there are times I do stupid shit and get hurt bad.
I tried arm wrestling in December and broke my distal humerus. It’s been a nightmare! Lost 2 jobs since it happened and now I’ve broken a screw and backed one out so I might be having surgery again.
I thought getting back on a mild cycle would be good to replace lost muscle. Apparently the muscle was stronger than the fresh unhealed maybe 60% break. And I got hurt at the new job lifting heavy boxes.
So here I am Monday morning ina new brace called a clam shell walking on a treadmill. Lol

This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You take the blue pill - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.

I have only spent 5wks in the gym in 2026. I had a back surgery in Jan and finally got strong enough and healed enough to get back in the gym. I was back for 5wks then poof I end up having my appendix removed. Then 6 days later tore the deep muscle and stitch in the biggest incision. That jacked me up making me bedridden for 11 days straight. I could hardly walk. I could only get up to use the bathroom, brush my teeth, and suffer thru a shower when I had prepped by taking enough meds to get thru the shower. I have about 2wks left of recovery before I can get back into the gym. I can’t wait but I’m going to be weak as shit.

Wow brother that's rough and hang in there you'll get back what you lost soon enough.

My diet is dialed in and i am doing the same. I am lifting to be lean and athletic. Lighter weights more reps more cardio. I nave made money being huge and no one cared. Now i am shooting for that different look and i am super excited about my new chapter in life
Same here, and as I'm getting older it is getting harder chasing numbers and after my devastating Achilles tear a couple years back I decided the risk now outweighs the benefits of going heavy. I'm also going for the leaner look as well so been doing way more cardio plus going for more reps at lighter weight.
